Greek olive growers brace themselves as thieves seek pricey crop
FILIATRA, Greece - Greek olive grower Panagiotis Tsafaras has been forced to patrol his groves twice a day recently to fend off thieves trying to steal the crop as prices rise during a poor harvest.
Tsafaras has been robbed twice, with thieves stealing more than a tonne of his olives in one incident last month.
High school students invent new navigation method
Two high school students have become the winners of a competition held by The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) with their ultrasonic navigation project which can locate objects without GPS, the satellite-based radio navigation system.

GPS signal from wireless headphones leads police to airport thief
A member of the ground staff at Athens International Airport has confessed to stealing valuables from passengers' luggage on at least 70 occasions after police tracked him down by following the GPS signal from a pair of wireless headphones which he had stolen from a tourist's suitcase.

Hikers warned against using navigation in mountains
Ljubljana – The Kranj Police Department has called on those heading to the mountains to use marked trails and official maps rather than resorting to GPS navigation, which can lead into dangerous situation.
The appeal comes after rescue teams had to rescue several hikers – all foreign citizens – in the area of Mt Vogel in the Julian Alps four times in the last month.
