Mitsotakis sets reform agenda in first cabinet meeting after reshuffle, warns against complacency

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Saturday outlined the guidelines for his conservative administration during the first cabinet meeting after the previous day's reshuffle, sending a strong message against complacency and arrogance.

"I chose to hold our first [cabinet] meeting after the European elections with our new composition to signal a dynamic restart," he said.

PM excludes 11 in government reshuffle

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has sought to rekindle his center-right government's spark with a reshuffle on Friday, excluding 11 members.

The move, which came amid a persistent cost-of-living crisis and a disappointing showing in the European Parliament election, also showed intent to demonstrate policy consistency with the foreign and finance ministers keeping their places.

Cabinet reshuffle expected as soon as Friday

A cabinet reshuffle is expected in Greece as soon as Friday, according to local media reports. 

Two events are seen affecting the timing of the announcements: a cabinet meeting is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m., and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to attend the June 15-16 Ukraine peace conference in Switzerland.

The economy cannot prosper without a secure society, freedom, independence and national sovereignty, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told New Democracy congress, which got underway at the Zappeion Mansion in Athens on Friday.

The congress, the 15th in the party's history, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the New Democracy's founding.
