The path to child abuse opened by our civil laws
According to the Turkish Civil Code (TMK), any child who turns 16 can be allowed to marry if their family appeals to the family court for permission. In 2011 for instance, 20,000 families have gone to court demanding permission to marry their 16-year-old daughters.

Do?an News Agency nets two photo awards
An image of Aylan Kurdi, the 3-year-old refugee who drowned off Turkey's Bodrum coast in September last year, which was captured by Do?an News Agency reporter Nilüfer Demir received the Press Photo of the Year award at Turkey Photojournalist Association Press' Photos of the Year 2016 contest.

Nanny carries child's severed head, shouts "Allahu Akbar"
A woman dressed in black carrying with her a child's severed head was arrested near a Moscow metro station on Monday.
According to initial reports, the woman is 38-year-old Gyulychera Bobohulova from Uzbekistan, a nanny who for as yet unknown reasons murdered a four-year-old girl.

Turkish authorities announced that at least 37 refugees were dead, while they managed to rescue 75 people.

18 million schoolchildren set to start new academic year
As many as 18 million students in preparatory, primary, elementary and high schools all across Turkey are set to begin the 2015-16 academic year on Sept. 28, as the three-month summer holiday comes to an end, daily Hürriyet has reported.
