Turkey's foreign minister said on Jan. 13 that a draft text on a possible cease-fire in Libya had emerged during talks in Moscow.

The Arab League remains silent, unable to demonstrate determination in support of the legitimate government in Libya, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Dec. 31.

Turkey has long supported a political settlement in Libya and an end to attacks and the establishment of a complete ceasefire among the warring sides, spokesman Hami Aksoy said in a statement.

Turkey will improve its cooperation with Libya and is ready to provide military support for the Tripoli-based government or back joint steps in the eastern Mediterranean, broadcaster NTV cited President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying on Wednesday.

Libya's embassy in Egypt was closed indefinitely from Dec. 15, the mission said on its Facebook page citing security concerns.   

Turkey is against foreign intervention to overthrow legitimate governments and constitutional regimes, including in Venezuela, Turkey affirmed on Aug. 19.       

Turkey's foreign minister spoke via telephone with his Russian counterpart April 18 and discussed recent developments in Libya, according to diplomatic sources.

Turkish Foreign ministry raised concern over the tension in Libya with a statement on April 7.

The Libyan Embassy in Bulgaria has submitted a protest note to the Bulgarian authorities on the instructions of the Libyan Foreign Ministry regarding the detention of the Libyan oil tanker "Badr" by the Bulgarian authorities, reports Libya Observer. 

Turkey's defense minister on Nov. 5 held meetings with Libyan officials in the capital Tripoli.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on May 2 condemned a terror attack on headquarters of the official Libyan electoral commission in the capital Tripoli that left 15 people dead.
