Appeal filed against acquittal of mother in Kolonos child pimping case

An appeal has been filed challenging the acquittal of a mother in the Kolonos case, where she was acquitted of the serious charge of pimping her 12-year-old daughter with the vote of only the jurors last week. 

The appeal contends that the evidence and documentation in the case were not adequately evaluated by the jurors. 

Prosecutor recommends acquittal on rape charges but pursues conviction for other offenses in Kolonos case

After a months-long procedure conducted behind closed doors, the prosecutor has requested that the judges of a mixed jury court acquit 55-year-old businessman Ilias Michos of charges alleging the rape of a 12-year-old girl in downtown Kolonos district, as well as charges of coercive pimping and collection of prostitution earnings, citing insufficient evidence.

Drummer found guilty in one of four child abuse cases

A well-known drummer who had previously played with popular Greek bands was found guilty by the Athens Mixed Jury Court in one of four cases of sexual abuse of underage girls filed against him.

The court handed him a four-year suspended sentenced, acknowledging two mitigating factors, as requested by his defense, of previous lawful life and good behavior following the offense.

Trial into 2022 killing of Thessaloniki youth gets under way

The 12 people accused of the murder of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos on February 1, 2022 in Harilaou, Thessaloniki and the injury of his two friends told a court on Monday that they did not beat him. 

The trial for the soccer hooligan-related incident is taking place at the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki.
