A lavender festival takes place on Saturday near Chirpan.

In order to take advantage of the lavender plant's capacity to flourish with little water, a village teacher in the southeastern province of Şırnak has taken the initiative to spread lavender gardening throughout the village, due to the region's water shortage.

The purpose of the event is to pay attention to the country's leading position in lavender growing and production of lavender oil.

Kuyucak in the southwestern province of Isparta contributes over 90 percent of the country's lavender production, turning to purple during the hot season. The harvest season starts in August.
