Nobel-winning lithium battery inventor John Goodenough dies at 100
John Goodenough, who shared the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing the lithium-ion battery that revolutionized modern life, has died at the age of 100, the University of Texas announced.
Goodenough died on June 25, said the university, where he worked as an engineering professor.
Dyson plans new battery plant in Singapore
High-end appliance maker Dyson said yesterday that it would open a new factory in Singapore to manufacture next-generation batteries, as well as new facilities elsewhere to boost its research into AI and software development.

TAB launching Li-ion battery production
TAB, the Mežica-based maker of lead-acid batteries and one of Slovenia's largest exporters, is planning to launch lithium-ion batteries production in Prevalje, in the north of the country, in February.
The production, involving 40 employees, will be located in a new production hall which TAB has purchased from pharmaceutical company Lek.

Northvolt could postpone building new gigafactory in Germany
Swedish electric car battery specialist Northvolt could postpone building a factory in northern Germany due to the energy crisis and enticing subsidies in the United States, its boss said Saturday.
The project "could be postponed", Peter Carlsson told German daily Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung.

Subsidy approved for Li-ion battery plant
Ljubljana – The government has approved a EUR 9.8 million subsidy for a Li-ion battery plant that TAB, the Slovenian maker of starter and industrial batteries, plans to set up with its Chinese partner Haidi Energy Technology. The company has welcomed the decision as a major step towards the implementation of the project.
