Ljubljana – Slovenia is allegedly the only EU member to have failed to send its contribution for Commission’s second rule of law report by now, unofficial sources say. The deadline for member states to do so was 8 March. Slovenia’s Foreign Minister Anže Logar said the country will send its report on time. In the evening the government approved the document.

Brussels/Ljubljana – Slovenian Foreign Minister Anže Logar has condemned sanctions imposed by China in retaliation for the EU’s sanctions against it due to its treatment of the Uyghurs in Xinjiang.

China introduced sanctions against EU individuals including a member of Slovenia’s permanent representation to the EU, according to Logar.

Ljubljana – Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez Laya announced her country’s support for Slovenia’s presidency of the EU Council in the second half of the year as she met Slovenian counterpart Anže Logar in Ljubljana on Thursday. The pair also talked about resilience of the EU and migrations, which are among the priorities of the presidency.

Brussels – As EU foreign ministers reached a political agreement on Monday to introduce sanctions against the persons responsible for the arrest and prison sentencing of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Slovenia’s Anže Logar pointed to the need for the EU to be united in its attitude towards Russia.

Vienna – Foreign Minister Anže Logar was on a working visit to Austria to meet his counterpart Alexander Schallenberg. The pair assessed the countries’ relations in the past year as positive and noted the importance of the 100th anniversary of the Carinthian plebiscite in presence of both presidents. He also met Slovenian minority representatives.

Nicosia – Bilateral ties, EU issues, the Cyprus issue and Slovenia’s desire to join the MED7 topped the agenda as Slovenian Foreign Minister Anže Logar held talks with Cypriot counterpart Nikosom Hristodulidesom. Logar highlighted the need for small and Mediterranean countries to cooperate.

Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar addressed the fifth annual forum of the macroregional strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian region held online on Thursday, stressing that a green and digital recovery of Europe after the Covid-19 pandemic would be possible only in cooperation.

Brussels – The priorities of Slovenia’s EU presidency in the second half of this year and bilateral cooperation were in the focus as Foreign Minister Anže Logar held talks on Monday with his Belgian counterpart Sophie Wilmes.

Logar stressed that Slovenia would place special emphasis on strengthening the EU’s capacity to address health and other crises, the Foreign Ministry said.

Zagreb – The foreign ministers of Slovenia and Croatia, Anže Logar and Gordan Grlić Radman, assessed after their talks in Zagreb on Friday that they had managed to raise the Slovenian-Croatian relations to a higher level in the past ten months. The talks focussed on Croatia’s exclusive economic zone in the Adriatic Sea, and included the border arbitration.
