Power Struggle Over Bulgaria’s Gambling Industry Sees Tycoon Detained

Amid major changes to gambling laws in Bulgaria, the most influential figure in the sector, Vasil Bojkov, a billionaire businessman, football boss and former owner of the recently-nationalised National Lottery is facing deportation from the United Arab Emirates after his recent arrest.

OPAP profits rise 18.5 pct in Q3

OPAP, Europe's fifth-biggest betting firm by revenues, saw its third-quarter net profit rise 18.5 percent, helped by its growing video lottery business.

Net profit in the July to September period stood at 39 million euros, up from 33 million euros in the same period last year, OPAP said.

The figure was in line with analysts' forecasts.
