Heavy trucks banned from overtaking on all Slovenian motorways
Ljubljana – Heavy trucks are banned from overtaking on the Slovenian motorways as of today after the ban kicked in on the A1 motorway, that is between Šentilj (NE) and Koper (SW), on 15 January. A violation carries a fine of 300 euro.
Slovenia’s Kolektor wins another road deal in Croatia
Zagreb – A consortium of the Slovenian company Kolektor CPG and Italy’s ICM has won the public tender in Croatia to construct a by-pass road in the coastal town of Novi Vinodolski, the national motorway company Hrvatske Autoceste (HAC) confirmed for the STA on Monday.
Slovenia and Croatia to launch bid to protect Istrian honey
Ljubljana – The Slovenian Agriculture Ministry has temporarily protected Istrian honey under the Slovenian-Croatian brand Istrski med/Istarski med at the national level using a protected designation of origin, as Slovenia and Croatia have decided to submit a joint application to the European Commission to register the honey.
Ban on overtaking for lorries on A1 motorway enters into force
Ljubljana – A 6am-6pm ban on overtaking for lorries on the A1 motorway between Šentilj and Koper entered into force on Friday. Police controls will be beefed up.
The new regime will be in place for lorries weighing more than 7.5 tonnes. Overtaking will still be allowed for these vehicles during the day in three-lane sections, and on the entire motorway in night time.

A historic road to the ancient city of Neonteikhos in the Aegean province of İzmir, which intersects with a motorway, was removed during the construction of an overpass bridge that was built for its protection, and now the removed stones have been reassembled as a puzzle.
Cengiz Insaat bids on highway projects in Bosnia
Turkish and Bosnian companies submitted bids to build a section of a pan-European north-south highway, part of 250 million euro ($280 million) in construction projects planned for this year, Reuters reported yesterday, quoting the Bosnian regional motorways company Autoceste FBiH.

Transport chaos caused by the fall of the first snow in Croatia, local Index reported.
Extreme rainfall and strong winds have made traffic impossible in many areas of the country. Authorities have banned the circulation of lorries with trailers and semi-trailers on the roads from the northwestern Istrian peninsula and the Adriatic port of Rijeka to the interior of the country.

EC Grants EUR 120 M for Sofia Northern Bypass
The European Commission has approved a grant of EUR 120 M for the Sofia Northern Bypass project.
The project was approved through a decision of the EC on June 4, according to a media statement of Bulgaria's Ministry of Regional Development.
The funding is to be provided under operational program "Regional Development" 2007-2013.

Ilic:Motorway through western Serbia to be completed by 2017
BELGRADE - The works on the construction of the motorway through Western Serbia are being conducted at the planned tempo and the works on certain sections should be completed in 2016, while the entire motorway should be finished by the end of 2017, Serbian Minister of Construction and Urbanism Velimir Ilic told Tanjug on Friday.
