1 ton of oil flows to sea surface per day in Rize
Analysis of samples taken off an oil leakage on the coast of Rize in the Black Sea region has confirmed the presence of crude oil.
Upon the reports of an oil leakage, geological engineer Professor Dr. Nafiz Maden set sail in September to collect samples to determine whether oil reserves are present in the Eastern Black Sea.

California oil spill kills fish, damages wetlands
A large oil spill off the southern California coast left fish dead, birds mired in petroleum and wetlands contaminated, prompting local officials to call it an environmental catastrophe.
The U.S. Coast Guard, heading a clean-up response involving federal, state and city agencies, said on Sunday there was an around-the-clock investigation into how the spill occurred.

The Black Sea Basin Directorate, the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water and the Regional Laboratory of the Executive Environment Agency have responded to a report of beach pollution in Albena resort, said the press office of the Basin Directorate. A section of approximately 2 km up to the mouth of the Kranevska river has been inspected.
Oil tanker runs aground in Milos, no leak reported
A Greek-flagged oil tanker run aground in shallow waters at the beach of Kanavas, on the island of Milos, on Wednesday morning, while trying to dock at the pier.
FRES, with a crew of 16 Greek nationals onboard, was sailing from Lesvos to Milos carrying 1,000 tons of fuel oil.
So far, no oil leaks have been reported and the vessel does not appear to be taking in water.

Small oil spill near Tragonissi
The Hellenic Coast Guard reported on Tuesday a minor strip of polluted water, seemingly from fuel spill, at the sea close to Tragonissi island by Myconos, where cargo ship Little Seyma ran aground a few days ago.
