President Donald Trump on Friday brought a temporary end to the longest government shutdown in US history, while dropping his previous insistence on immediate funding for wall construction along the Mexican border, reports AFP. 

A Turkish court has ordered the supervised release of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) lawmaker Leyla Güven, who has fallen critically ill after her 11-week hunger strike.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They discussed bilateral co-operation as well as in the energy sphere.

Prime Minister Borissov and President Putin underlined that in recent years the partnership between Bulgaria and Russia has intensified.

Asked by journalists in Davos to comment on Avni Arifi, the head of the Ramush Haradinaj's cabinet, saying that the government in Pristina could temporarily suspend taxes (pending a comprehensive agreement with Belgrade), Vucic noted in a statement for RTS that this would happen sooner or later.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has refused to participate in the World Economic Forum in the Swiss resort of Davos. He estimated there was no point in spending state money on a trip after the American leader Donald Trump did not attend the forum. Other world leaders refused to participate for various reasons.

France and Germany have renewed their vows of postwar friendship, aiming to show that the motor that has traditionally powered the EU project remains strong as nationalist and populist parties advance across the continent, writes the Guardian.
