President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier spoke over the phone on Nov. 29 about last week’s Sochi summit and the Syria crisis, according to a Turkish presidential source.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that Turkey, Russia and Iran will meet regularly to discuss the Syrian crisis, as he commented on a recent trilateral meeting n the Black Sea resort of Sochi

The current summit between Turkey, Russia, and Iran is critical for bringing the tragedy in Syria to an end, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported. 

"This trilateral summit is highly important for completely ending the bloodshed and tragedy that has been happening in Syria," Erdogan said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will meet on Nov. 13 in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi in Russia for their fifth meeting this year, with the Syrian crisis high on the agenda of talks.

The frequent violations of Greek air space by Turkish fighter jets, often flown by inexperienced or veteran pilots following a purge in the military by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, increases the risk of a military accident over the Aegean Sea, Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said Thursday, adding however that Athens wants to strengthen ties between the two nations.

Turkey has signed a contract with Russia to buy S-400 air defense missile systems, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

The United States has refused to send F-16 warplane trainers to Turkey after Ankara requested them in order to fill the gap in the number of Turkish jet pilots.

Trade and travel restrictions left over from a diplomatic spat with Turkey over a year ago will be lifted within a week, Russia's deputy prime minister said May 17, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.  

"Nearly 99 percent of the work has been completed," Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters in Russia's coastal town of Sochi.        

President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Russia's relationship with Turkey had fully recovered after what he called a crisis caused by Ankara's shooting down of a Russian warplane near the Syrian border in 2015, reported Reuters.
