Russia presses battle for eastern Ukraine, claims key city surrounded
Russian forces engaged in an all-out battle in eastern Ukraine have captured the strategic town of Lyman and surrounded a key industrial centre, Moscow has claimed.
But a Ukrainian official has denied that the city of Severodonetsk -- the focus of weeks of fierce fighting -- has been encircled, saying government troops had repelled Russian forces from its outskirts.

A rocket attack on the Training Center of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region killed 87 people, said the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking in Davos.
The mobilized forces of the territorial defense of Ukraine were trained in that center.
Foreign leaders at a military parade in Moscow?
"We did not invite any foreign leader to Victory Day. The fact is that this is not an anniversary date. This is our holiday, this is a holy holiday for all of Russia, for all Russians. But we did not invite foreign leaders," Peskov said.
Asked to clarify, he answered that the visit of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on May 9 is not expected.

Today, the government in Minsk approved a list of countries it considers "unfriendly".

Belarusian troops crossed the Ukrainian border in the Chernihiv region.
This was confirmed by the Parliament of Ukraine.
