Garnbret cements status as world’s best climber

Slovenian Olympic champion Janja Garnbret won boulder gold at the Climbing World Championships on 5 August, her third world champion title in this event after 2018 and 2019, to set a new record for the discipline.

The 24-year old "flashed" all four boulders in the semifinal and all for in the final, sweeping to gold as the only competitor to climb all the boulders in the first try.

Garnbret makes Forbes list of most influential young athletes

Slovenian sport climber Janja Garnbret has made it to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in sports and games in Europe, placing alongside athletes such as NBA star Nikola Jokić, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Formula One driver George Russel.

The magazine notes that Garnbret, 24, is the first Olympic gold medallist in sport climbing and that she has won six World Championships.

Third gold for Garnbret at European Championships

Munich – Janja Garnbret won gold in the new boulder & lead event on Wednesday, her third consecutive gold medal at the European Championships in Munich. Another Slovenian, Mia Krampl, finished in second place.

Garnbret left nothing to chance as she dominated both the boulder and the lead events: there were 200 points available in both events and she took home 199.9 points.

Munich – Luka Potočar has won silver in the men’s lead discipline to clinch the third medal for Slovenian sport climbers at the European Championships in Munich after Janja Garnbret won the championship in the women’s competition in both lead and bouldering.

Munich – Slovenia’s best climber Janja Garnbret was crowned the European champion in lead in Munich on Saturday, her second European champion title after winning one in combined in 2017. Garnbret is aiming for two more gold medals at the European Championships in Germany, in combined and bouldering.

Garnbret wins another world cup event

Lausanne – Climber Janja Garnbret continued her winning streak on Saturday, taking first place in women’s lead event in Villars, Switzerland, earning her 50th world cup podium and 34th first place.

The Olympic gold medallist was the only climber in male and female competition to make it to the top of both climbing walls in the semifinals and finals at yesterday’s competition.

Innsbruck – Olympic gold medallist Janja Garnbret won the World Cup lead event in Innsbruck on Sunday, becoming the first competitor to notch up 33 World Cup wins in climbing.

The win comes after a long break – she last competed in early April – during which she eschewed bouldering events to focus on lead, in particular the European Championship in August.
