Pilots 'should marry to avoid Germanwings-like crashes'

Turkish Airlines CEO Temel Kotil has come up with an unusual suggestion to help pilots like Germanwings' Andreas Lubitz from falling into fatal depression: Marriage.

Lubitz, who reportedly suffered from depression, locked his captain out of the cockpit and deliberately steered the Airbus A320 into the French Alps on March 24, killing all 150 passengers and crew on board.

Turkish Airlines carries 12.8 million in first quarter

Turkish Airlines, the country's national flag-carrier, has announced it increased its total number of passengers by 6.5 percent in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same period of the previous year.

The total number of passengers in the first quarter of 2015 was 12.8 million compared to 12 million in January-March 2014, according to a statement from the company on April 14.

Turkish Airlines starts flights to San Francisco

Turkish Airlines has inaugurated flights to San Francisco, the national flag carrier said in a statement.

It is the airline's second Californian destination, and its 11th in the Americas. The airline already has services to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Boston and Montreal.

Two sets of Aegean flights to Paris cancelled

Aegean Airlines on Wednesday announced the cancellation of two sets of flights between Athens and Paris on Thursday due to a strike by French air-traffic controllers.

The flights that are being canceled are A3 610 from Athens to Paris, A3 611 from Paris to Athens, A3 612 from Athens to Paris and A3 613 from Paris to Athens.

Turkish Airlines plane in forced landing after window shatters

A Turkish Airlines  passenger plane en route to Istanbul made a forced landing at Germany's Nuremberg Airport on April 8, after its left cockpit window shattered, the airline said.
   
The Dusseldorf to Istanbul flight diverted to Nuremberg, landing at 0658 GMT, a spokeswoman for the airline said.
