India's endangered tiger population tops 3,600
India's wild tiger population is estimated to now exceed 3,600, according to new government figures released Saturday, in a vindication of conservation efforts for the endangered species. Tigers once roamed throughout central, eastern and southern Asia, but have lost nearly 95 percent of their historical range in the past century.

Sick white tiger cub found under dumpster
An animal park in Athens on Wednesday said it had found a rare white tiger cub under a garbage bin nine days ago.
Attica Zoological Park said the four-month-old female cub was paralysed from the waist down.

Endangered white tiger cub seized in Istanbul
Istanbul gendarmerie units have carried out an operation on a farm in the Silivri district upon notifications that a foreign national was feeding predators and found a 4-month-old white tiger and an 8-month-old Rhesus monkey.
Security units determined that the animals which were kept in cages were illegally brought into Turkey from India.

Federal authorities have seized 68 big cats from an animal park in Oklahoma featured in Netflix's "Tiger King."
The U.S. Department of Justice announced May 20 that the seizure of the federally protected lions, tigers, lion-tiger hybrids and a jaguar as part of a court-approved agreement to resolve a DOJ complaint against Jeffrey and Lauren Lowe over the animals' care.

Tiger Population Nearly Doubles in Nepal
AFP - Nepal's wild tiger population has nearly doubled over the last nine years, officials said Monday, in a victory for the impoverished country's drive to save the endangered big cats.
Wildlife groups have welcomed the news as a sign that political involvement and innovative conservation strategies can reverse the decline of the majestic Royal Bengal tiger.

Lion, tiger cubs meet visitors at Kayseri zoo
Three lion and four tiger cubs, born nearly four months ago in the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Zoo, have been taken to the section where their mothers live and introduced to visitors. The cubs had previously lived in a special section.

Tiger Escapes Circus During Show (Video)
Tiger escaped from his cage during a circus performance in the Chinese province of Shanxi, China Daily writes.
The escape of the tiger shook the audience, but luckily in the incident only two people were slightly injured, the huge cat scratched them with its nails. According to some Chinese media, the injured are two children, but others report one child and one adult.
