One person charged for 2023 killing of dog in Arachova
A prosecutor has filed charges against an unnamed individual over the killing and torture of an eight-year-old Husky named Oliver in the popular winter resort town of Arachova, central Greece, in November last year.
Four border guards arrested for beating deportee
Four border guards from a deportation facility located in northern Athens have appeared before a prosecutor on charges of torture and complicity in torture.
The guards were arrested on Thursday evening at the Amygdaleza pre-departure detention centre following a complaint by a non-national that he had been beaten the day before by uniformed officers.

Human Rights Watch Calls on Bulgaria: Prevent Deportation of Saudi Activist
Human Rights Watch has called on Bulgarian authorities to immediately halt plans to deport Saudi human rights activist Abdulrahman al-Khalidi back to Saudi Arabia. According to the International Human Rights Organization, Al-Khalidi faces serious risks of arbitrary detention, torture, and an unfair trial if sent back.
Two police officers arrested for assaulting protesting nationalist
Two police special guards were arrested on Monday for physically assaulting a man taking part in a far-right demonstration on Sunday in the Athens suburb of Ambelokipi later that night.
The two officers were identified in a video doing the rounds on the internet.
Man arrested for torturing disabled victims, posting videos online
A 42-year-old man was arrested in Athens on Saturday for torturing and abusing a 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man who are intellectually disabled, and posting the abuse online.
The suspect, who was arrested by officers from the Anti-Racist Violence Unit, is accused of causing bodily harm, verbal abuse and pimping, as well as breaching the weapons act.

Bulgaria: Double Murder near Sofia - 18-year-old Girl and 27-year-old Man
Two corpses - of an 18-year-old girl and a 27-year-old man - were found in the area of the Sofia village of Lozen this morning. They were shot.
The investigators are working on the version of murder, a 34-year-old man was detained during the night. He indicated where he hid the bodies. They were found in different places.
UN Torture Prevention Body to Visit Bulgaria
The United Nations Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT) will make its first visit to Bulgaria from 24 to 30 October to assess the treatment of people deprived of their liberty, and examine the existing protection measures against torture and ill-treatment.

Witness at Kosovo Guerrilla’s Trial ‘Tortured in Cowshed’
A protected witness told the trial of Salih Mustafa at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague on Monday that he was detained for 17 days in a cowshed in the village of Zllash/Zlas, some 30 kilometres east of Kosovo's capital Pristina, during the war in 1999.
Heads roll at Avlona Prison after inmate clashes
The director of the Avlona Prison in northern Athens and the head guard of its juvenile correctional facility were sacked Tuesday over a violent riot there last Friday which left 13 people injured.
It was the second such incident at the prison's juvenile correctional facility within the last month.
