Brnabic: Serbia, China have joint projects worth 6 bln dollars

KOSTOLAC - Serbia and China currently have joint projects worth 6 bln dollars, Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said in Kostolac, eastern Serbia, on Monday.

Brnabic laid the cornerstone for the new B3 unit of the Kostolac coal-fired power plant, the biggest investment in Serbia's energy sector in nearly three decades.

Antic: Chinese loan for Kostolac B exceptionally favorable

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antic said Thursday that the China Exim Bank's USD 608.3 million, 20-year loan with a grace period of seven years, for the construction of a new unit at Serbia's Kostolac B coal-fired power plant, was extremely favorable and would ensure the stability of the country's energy system.

Chinese partners interested in further investments

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and officials of the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), which is in charge of the overhaul of Kostolac thermal power plant, said Thursday that the works in the first phase are going as planned, and voiced expectation that the project will be successfully completed and the production resumed in a very short time.

BELGRADE -- The government has adopted an agreement on a second phase in upgrading Thermal Power Plants and Mines Kostolac (TE-KO Kostolac), in eastern Serbia.

A new 350 megawatt unit is to be added to the coal-fired power plant complex, n cooperation with Chinese partners.
