Serbia, Russia foster cooperation in internal affairs area

BELGRADE - Vladimir Bozovic, state secretary at the Ministry of the Interior, conferred with a delegation of the Russian Embassy in Belgrade on Thursday on cooperation in the area of internal affairs.

In the talks with the Russian delegation headed by Ivan Gorbunov, minister-counselor and deputy head of mission, Bozovic pointed to the importance of cooperation in the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking, corruption and higher police education.

Bozovic said that the cooperation between the Serbian Interior Ministry and the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation is a priority bearing in mind that a plan on joint activities in the fight against drug-related threats 2013-2015 has been signed.

The talks also touched on the visit by Nikolay Aulov, deputy director of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation, scheduled for April 2014.

Bozovic said that it is necessary to promote capacities and potentials of the Serbian-Russia humanitarian center in Nis.

The delegation of the Russian Embassy also comprised First Secretaries Oleg Shumilin and Sergey Kosarev, the statement reads.
