Burkhalter welcomes progress in cooperation in West Balkans

VIENNA - Swiss Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Didier Burkhalter expressed satisfaction with his two-day visit to the Western Balkan region and the meetings he had with officials in Belgrade, Pristina and Tirana.

Burkhalter also welcomed the progress achieved in regional cooperation and the reconciliation process in the Western Balkans, OSCE released.

He also expressed satisfaction with the commitment of all political leaders with whom he had the chance to meet to the strengthening of security and stability in the Western Balkans.

During the meeting with officials in Belgrade, Pristina and Tirana, Burkhalter received strong support for Switzerland's engagement as the OSCE chair in the Western Balkan region.

The arrangement aims to strengthen the OSCE contribution in the process of normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations which leads to the EU and improve regional cooperation and reconciliation process, especially with regard to the missing persons' issue, states the release.
