Call on drivers to be more cautious in traffic

BELGRADE - Public enterprise Roads of Serbia called on all participants in traffic to be more cautious because of the high rainfall and to adjust the driving modes and speeds to the new emergency situation on I A class state roads and motorways E-70, E-75 and E-80.

According to the release, participants in traffic are asked to watch out for potential wider water-covered surfaces on roads caused by the incapacity of drainage systems to intake the high rainfall, and to be careful of potential soil deposits caused by erosive slope movements. The drivers were also asked to pay close attention to the new traffic signs recently installed to regulate the altered traffic regimes on certain motorway sections.

All participants in traffic are required to act according to information issued by the authorities and individuals engaged in road maintenance, states the release.

The Serbian government declared a state of emergency in the territory of the entire country on Thursday due to floods and high rainfall.

The state of emergency was declared at the request by the Republic Emergency Situation Headquarters which discussed on Thursday the situation in the country brought about the heavy rainfall and floods.
