Town to observe day of mourning for workers

PIROT -- The town of Pirot in southeastern Serbia will observe a day of mourning on May 7 for three workers of the Tigar Tyres company.

The website Juzne Vesti reported on Wednesday that the decision was made by the Municipal Council.

A total of six workers were injured from electric shock during the incident at the factory on April 23.

The three with severe injuries - Dragan Sokolovic, Miodrag Panic, and Dejan Mladenovic - were first taken to the Clinical Center to Nis, and then airlifted to Bochum in Germany.

All three have since passed away.

The workers who received lighter injuries are stable and continue to recover at the Pirot General Hospital.
