Nikolic, Patrushev discuss regional security, cooperation

BELGRADE - President Tomislav Nikolic met with the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev, on Wednesday to discuss the present political and security situation in the region and worldwide and models of military technical cooperation between Serbia and Russia.

They particularly focused on the fight against international terrorism and illegal drug trade, as well as on information security, the presidential press office said in a statement.

Patrushev said his meetings with Serbian state officials earlier in the day had pointed to concrete further steps in the cooperation and that there were no disagreements on matters of mutual interest.

Nikolic noted Serbia had no intention of imposing sanctions on Russia as that would have grave and very harmful consequences for Serbian interests and erode the friendship with Russia....
