McCain: Putin is bigger threat than Islamic State

Russian President Vladimir Putin is "the biggest threat to global security, even greater than Islamic State," says US Senator John McCain.

The former US presidential candidate, who recently visited Serbia, made this declaration during his tour of Australia, the British daily Guardian is reporting.

McCain told ABC that US president Donald Trump made him "nervous" and "expressed concern at reports that White House adviser Jared Kushner allegedly discussed creating a secret communication channel with Russia," the newspaper said on its website.

"I think he is the premier and most important threat, more so than ISIS (Islamic State)," he said, when asked "to evaluate the threat to global security posed by Putin."
