No chance for Serbia to join EU in under ten years - analyst

It is Washington, not Russia, that is bringing disorder to the Balkans, Croatian political analyst Zarko Puhovski has told a Belgrade daily.

Puhovski also stressed that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has "repeatedly shown support to Serbia, and wanted to reduce Croatia's institutional advantage as members of the European Union, in relation to Serbia, which is not a member."

"It is her desire to equalize their positions and to pull Serbia out of the Russian jaws. Mike Pence also spoke about this in Podgorica, obviously this has now become a fixed idea to all them," said the analyst.

According to him, there is no chance for Serbia to join the EU in under ten years from now.
"The EU has no institutional capacity to receive new members and it is unlikely to reach a consensus on accepting anyone except Montenegro. So I think that Montenegro will be the first join...
