Boxer Kozin wins WBF light middleweight world champion title

Aalen – Slovenian boxer Ema Kozin defeated Szilvia Szabados of Hungary in Germany’s Aalen on Saturday evening to become the world champion in the women’s light middleweight category in the WBF organisation. This is third weight category in which the 23-year-old from Ljubljana holds the world champion title.

Kozin, who also holds the middleweight and super middleweight categories in the organisation, confirmed the role of a favourite to win the match in the seventh round after the referee stoppage.

“I felt that I was stronger than Szabados already in the first round. Szilvia also quickly realised this, and started to withdraw, which is not her habit,” the Slovenian champion told the newspaper Delo.

“I promised you. I am returning better and stronger after the loss. Thank you all for support,” Kozin added after her 22nd professional win, referring to her only professional loss back in February in Cardiff to Clarissa Shields of the US.

Coach Rudi Pavlin was also impressed, and he said that the referee could have stopped the match even earlier, as Kozin was convincingly better despite the strong resistance of the Hungarian.
