Varhelyi: Belgrade, Pristina urged to engage in dialogue more constructively

BRUSSELS - EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi said on Wednesday Belgrade and Pristina were urged to engage in dialogue more constructively and implement reached agreements, and noted that this included establishment of a Community of Serb Municipalities and normalisation of relations.

Varhelyi said this at a session of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, presenting a new EU enlargement report.

He said the report noted that Serbia had implemented constitutional amendments on judicial independence as well as media laws, and that it met the conditions to open another cluster in its EU accession talks.

He also said Serbia had made progress on aligning its foreign policy with the EU but that failure to impose sanctions on Russia remained a cause for concern.
