The nine adults out of 21 arrested for attacking two transgender individuals late on Saturday were released after being presented before the first instance court in the northern port city of Thessaloniki on Monday. 

The Thessaloniki court postponed the trial due to the absence of witnesses.

9 jailed pending trial over allegedly harassing, threatening 2 transgender persons in Thessaloniki

Nine people jailed in Greece will be tried Monday over accusations they harassed and threatened two 21-year-old transgender persons in the northern city of Thessaloniki.

The nine were remanded after appearing before a prosecutor Sunday. Twelve other people, all minors, were released provisionally pending trial on the same charges before a juvenile court.

Bill establishing minimum corporate taxation submitted to Parliament

The Economy and Finance Ministry has submitted to Parliament a draft taxation bill that foresees the establishment of a minimum tax rate of 15% for large multinational companies as well as large Greek groups.

The bill belatedly transposes a relevant European Union directive, that entered into force on January 1, into Greek legislation.

Central Athens street clashes injure 16

A student rally against an education bill that was ratified in Parliament on Friday was marred by clashes with police.

Seven police officers and nine civilians were injured.

The clashes erupted after student associations from all over Greece gathered at Athens University's Propylaea in the city center and marched to Parliament.

Protests against private universities bill turn violent

A student protest in Athens against a bill that would allow the establishment of branches of foreign universities in Greece for the first time has turned violent.

Around 8,000 people are estimated to be participating in the city center protest, while police have so far made nine arrests.
