Greek experts recommend tough restrictions on travellers from Southern Africa, EU to stop air travel from region

A committee of Greek infectious disease experts after an emergency meeting today has recommended a series of tough restrictions on travellers from countries of Southern Africa after the isolation of a new Covid variant that has been dubbed the "Botswana variant".

Athens looking to redeploy East Med diplomacy

Athens condemns destruction of monument in southern Albania

The Greek Foreign Ministry has condemned the destruction of a monument dedicated to early 20th-century warrior chief Thymios Liolis in the village of Krania in southern Albania.
"Provocations against the ethnic Greek minority and, ultimately, against Greek-Alabnian relations, must be immediately investigated," the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Diplomats unimpressed by Turkish East Med briefing

Greece to respond to expulsions

Greece is expected to officially respond Wednesday to Russia's decision to expel two Greek Embassy staff and bar the director of Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias's political bureau, Giorgos Sakellariou, from entering the country, in a retaliatory move over a decision by Athens to expel two Russian envoys in July.
