EIB interested in funding new projects in Serbia

BELGRADE - The European Investment Bank (EIB) is interested in development of public-private partnerships in Serbia, as well as in further development of regional projects and roads as part of the European transport network, the head of the EIB Regional Office for the Western Balkans, Dubravka Negre, said Monday at a meeting with Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic.

Vujovic: No matter who wins elections, Serbia has obligations

WASHINGTON - The World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have praised Serbia's fiscal consolidation and reforms but, regardless of who wins the elections and becomes part of the new government, continuing the three-year reform programme will remain Serbia's obligation, Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic said Monday.

EBRD expects continued reforms, to back investment momentum

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) "expects Serbia to continue to be fully committed to carrying out the reforms it has started."

This is what the president of the financial institution, Suma Chakrabarti, said at a meeting with Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic in Washington.

Minister: Fiscal results "better than planned"

The fiscal results in the first three months of 2016 are already better than planned, Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic said on Tuesday.

Despite unforeseen expenditures, including the cost of early parliamentary elections, the central government deficit amounted to RSD 8.9 billion in Q1 - less than a quarter of the RSD 62 billion planned, he said.

Serbia's Prime Minister has belatedly axed his controversial defence minister, Branislav Gasic, who has been in the middle of controversy since early December when he told reporter Zlatija Labovic from TV B92, who had knelt down to get out of the way of her cameraman at a press event: "I love female journalists who get down on their knees easily."

Finance minister appointed as acting defense minister

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has authorized Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic to perform the duties of the defense minister until a new one has been elected.

Earlier on Saturday, Vucic signed a proposal to dismiss Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic and sent it to the National Assembly, his cabinet confirmed.
