BELGRADE - Presidential candidate Vuk Jeremic said Monday a run-off presidential election was a certainty and that the regime knew who had the capacity to deliver a "political knock-out" to it.

"There is no doubt any more that a second round is certain," Jeremic said in the Belgrade municipality of Surcin.

Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday apologized "to citizens" because of a statement made by Milenko Jovanov, a high ranking official of his ruling SNS party.

Jovanov issued his statement on Monday, saying that "the biggest criminal gang in Serbia" was to be found "in the environment of Vuk Jeremic".

Presidential candidate's wife Natasa Jeremic told a press conference on Tuesday that she was appalled and scared after the ruling Progressive Party's vice-president Milenko Jovanov accused her the previous day of being the "chief of the Serbian drug market".

Luka Maksimovic, aka Ljubisa Beli Preletacevic, is now second with a rating of about 11 percent.

BELGRADE - Had the Serbian presidential elections been held on March 10, the turnout would have been 56 pct, with 57 pct of the voters voting for current PM Aleksandar Vucic, who would thus have won more votes than all the other candidates combined, a Demostat survey shows.

Bosnian Security Minister Dragan Mektic claimed Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic only met Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik "out of pity", after Vucic came to Sarajevo to attend a summit of Western Balkan leaders on Thursday.
