Court voids plan for Pedio tou Areos park in Athens
The Council of State, Greece's highest administrative court, has voided the Attica Region's 10-year-plan for Pedio tou Areos park in central Athens.
The plan, which calls for more construction inside the park, should have made some sort of environmental assessment and should have been opened to public consultation, the court said.

Law easing restrictions for Greeks voting from abroad passed
MPs have enacted a law easing the requirements for Greek citizens wishing to vote in Greek elections.
A total of 208 MPs - eight more than the constitutional requirement - from ruling New Democracy, PASOK-Movement for Change, Niki and Course of Freedom backed the bill, while lawmakers from the main opposition SYRIZA and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) voted against it.

Bridge collapse near Patra leaves one dead
A motorway bridge into Patra collapsed on Sunday leaving at least one dead, two people pinned under the rubble and seven injured, with at least one being seriously injured.
The bridge had structural problems in the past and was under repair since 2021. The Olympia Odos motorway had closed the road due to demolition works and there was no traffic on the bridge.

The South African Embassy in Athens and coaches of the famed Springbok national rugby team traveled to Neos Voutzas on the Greek capital's Mount Parnitha to offer their services to a Greek Orthodox orphanage that is home to 65 children.
Settlements evacuated as wildfires spread
Residents in a number of settlements in Corinthia and Western Attica have received 112 emergency messages ordering them to evacuate their homes due to fires raging in the region.
Shortly after 7 p.m., residents of the Glykia Zoi settlement in Corinthia were ordered to evacuate their homes and move towards Agioi Theodoroi.

Four villages evacuated as Viotia blaze spreads
The residents of four parts of Dervenohoria in Viotia, northwest of Athens, were ordered to evacuate towards the West Attica town of Mandra on Tuesday as a wildfire started to approach homes and thick smoke filled the air.
Panorama, Pournari, Palaiohori and Agios Sotiras were being evacuated, as the blaze also crossed regional lines into Attica, heading towards Vilia and Oinoi.
