Turkey Announces End of Euphrates Shield in Syria

Turkish PM Binali Yıldırım has announced the end of the military operation Euphrates Shield in neighbouring Syria, reported Reuters.

In an interview for NTV TV channel, the PM stated that the operation has been a success and has led to gaining full control of the city of al-Bab. He added that if a future Turkish military operation becomes necessary it will be under a different name.

300 Turkish commandos to join Operation Euphrates Shield

A total of 300 Turkish commandos will join Turkey's Operation Euphrates Shield, according to a military source, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.     

The special troops of the 11th Command Brigade departed from the Çardak Military Airport in the western province of Denizli, said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Turkey has launched its "Euphrates Shield" military operation under a certain consensus with Russia, Iran and the United States. It is conducting the operation through the same consensus.
