Austria farmers up in arms over Brussels GMO plans
The European Commission's proposal to ease current restrictions on genetically modified crops has riled up EU organic farming leader Austria and its farmers.
"I think it's outrageous... They have a nerve even considering this," organic farmer Beate Brenner told AFP on her farm in a small village surrounded by grain and sunflower fields some 100 kilometers northwest of Vienna.

Bulgarian Food Safety Agency Bans Imported Fodder Containing Genetically Modified Bacteria
The EC undertook measures aimed at curbing the spread of unauthorized genetically modified bacteria in Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) in fodder, reported the Bulgarian National Radio.
Following an inspection the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency banned an imported fodder containing unauthorized form of Vitamin B2.
GMO scandal in Macedonia - Serbia involved?
Macedonian Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) published a statement that they found a ton of GMO foods on the market, reports Belgrade newspaper Politika.
Thorough inspection of the Macedonian market came after a super analysis in a EU reference laboratory confirmed the presence of GMO in soy and soy-based food.

Ljajic to citizens: Do not fear GMOs
Serbian citizens have no reason for fear in case of any changes to regulations on marketing of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), says Rasim Ljajic.
This is because "the law will strictly note that cultivation of such organisms is explicitly forbidden," Tanjug has quoted the Serbian minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications as telling reporters.

Turkish biosecurity council allows use of genetically modified soybeans, corn as animal food
Turkey's Biosecurity Council has approved the use of three types of genetically modified soybeans and one type of genetically modified corn as animal food in a decision published in the Official Gazette on Aug. 2, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Investigation launched into GMO material found in bread in Turkey's south
An investigation was launched into a case in which bread with genetically modified organisms (GMO) was found in the southern province of Adana on March 21.
The Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched the investigation after daily Hürriyet reported that GMO soy was found in the bread's preservatives that are produced by a company in the province.
GMO material discovered in bread in southern Turkey
Genetically modified organisms (GMO) have been found in bread in the southern Turkish province of Adana, causing alarm among locals and prompting a statement from Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Faruk Çelik.
GMO soy was found in the bread's preservatives that are produced by a company in the province.
