Warm welcome for British Airways passengers at Herakleion airport (photos)

British Airways returned to Herakleion, Crete, after thirty years. A warm waiting was in store for the first British Airways flight carrying 120 passengers to Nikos Kazantzakis airport at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The tourists were welcomed with traditional Cretan food and drinks.

Olympiakos within reach of the soccer title

Olympiakos is within two points from mathematically clinching its fifth consecutive Super League title after its 3-1 away victory over struggling Panthrakikos on Wednesday.

The Reds are now 11 points ahead of Panathinaikos in second, with four games left to play till the end of the regular season.

Minoan voyages require passenger ID

Minoan Lines require all passengers on domestic routes to show a photo ID before boarding. Passengers are also required to board an hour in advance before sailing on domestic voyages and two hours prior to international journeys. The Minoan statement stressed that there will be no exceptions to these new procedures.

Foreign nationals die in all-terrain vehicle crash

A man and a woman died last Friday after their all-terrain vehicle crashed into the side of a bridge on the Aghios Nikolaos-Iraklio national highway, near Neapoli on the island of Crete.

The foreign nationals, both reported to be about 50 years old, were transported to the Aghios Nikolaos Hospital in Lasithi by ambulance, where they were pronounced dead.
