Dacic: Textbooks treating Kosovo as independent "won't happen"

Serbia respects the rights of the Albanian minority, while schools will not be able to use textbooks stating that "Kosovo is independent", says Ivica Dacic.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic had a number of bilateral meetings on Thursday on the sidelines of the 22nd Ministerial Council of the OSCE.

He spoke with foreign ministers of Canada, Sweden and Ukraine, as well as with the Deputy Minister Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, the government said on its website.

The OSCE Ministerial Council meeting on Thursday and Friday in Belgrade will be the culmination of Serbia's one-year chairmanship of the international security body.

Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, who is the 2015 OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, said critical issues such as the Ukraine situation, the refugee crisis and terrorism would be discussed.

John Kerry will visit Belgrade on December 3 to take part in the annual ministerial council of Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, OSCE, organized by Serbia, the country chairing the organisation in 2015.

Serbian FM and OSCE chairperson Ivica Dacic says his country has shown itself capable of leading an international organization "in a very difficult year."

The organization in question, the OSCE, "faced many challenges that called into question the essence of its existence and its basic principles," said Dacic.

In addition, Serbia's foreign minister and first deputy PM, who also serves as OSCE chairperson, said that the international order should be based on principles and not only on political interests.

Ivica Dacic has said that if all other countries close their borders, Serbia and Macedonia will deal with the issue of migrant transit "by themselves."
