Muhsin Şentürk appointed as appeals court's top judge

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed Muhsin Şentürk as the new chief public prosecutor of the Court of Appeals.

Şentürk's appointment comes after a 37-round presidential election held by the top appeals court that saw him emerge as one of the candidates. He exited the race with two rounds remaining.

Erdoğan vows to curb 'bureaucratic tutelage' amid police probe

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has pledged resolute action against any form of "bureaucratic tutelage" as an investigation unfolds into a purported criminal network entangling police officials.

"We are following every incident that has come to the agenda recently, in all its dimensions, down to the smallest detail," Erdoğan said during a parliamentary meeting on May 15.

In a thrilling showdown at the European Outdoor Archery Championship in Essen, Germany, Mete Gazoz won the gold medal in the men's classical bow final on May 12, outmatching his Slovenian opponent Den Habjan Malavasic.

Displaying unparalleled skill, Gazoz secured a decisive victory with a 6-0 win, claiming his first European Championship title.

Turkish, Greek leaders meet to bolster ties

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in Ankara for a one-day visit on May 13 for talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to further improve bilateral ties  in line with the ongoing normalization process.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan welcomed the Greek premier at Esenboğa Airport, followed by a bilateral meeting at the Presidential Complex with Erdoğan.
