"Banks stable, no recapitalization needed"

Jorgovanka Tabakovic has said that the Serbian banking system is solvent and stable, and that banks are not in need of recapitalization.

These are the first results of diagnostic studies that the NBS carried out on 14 banks doing business in Serbia, in accordance with the agreement within the IMF program, the governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) said on Friday.

Bulgarian C-Bank's Supervision Dept. Director General Kordovska Resigns

Neli Kordovska, the Bulgarian National Bank's Director General in charge of Banking Supervision, has stepped down, officials have said.

Kordovska is not taking the respective office at Bulgaria's central bank BNB as of October 1.

Representatives of the institution have announced on the BNB's Bulgarian-language website that a procedure is already underway to pick her successor.

Bulgaria C-Bank Should Improve Transparency, Prof Hanke Says

The Bulgarian National Bank has to change the way it publishes information about the banking system in Bulgaria, renowned economist Prof Steve Hanke has said.

He has warned the BNB of putting out "very aggregate statistics", with information about bigger and smaller banks all "lumped together" a practice from which data suffers, preventing a thorough analysis of the system.

Bulgaria's C-Bank, State Security Agency to Cooperate on Tackling Crimes

The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) and the State Agency for National Security (DANS) are to cooperate on countering and preventing money laundering and financing of terrorism.

BNB and DANS are also to collaborate on preventing and uncovering crimes threatening the economic and financial security of Bulgaria.
