Tens of thousands of protesters marched in support of Palestinians on May 15 in major European cities including London, Berlin, Madrid and Paris, as the worst violence in years raged in Gaza by Israel. 

French football legend Eric Cantona on May 15 supported a relief campaign launched for Palestinians who are facing Israeli attacks.

Ex-Manchester United forward Cantona, 54, put his photo on Instagram as he has worn a 'Hoping for Palestine' t-shirt, which was designed for an NGO, Hoping Foundation.

Turkey's presidential spokesperson urged the international community early on May 14 to prevent the escalation of Israel's aggression against the Palestinian people. 

İbrahim Kalın said on Twitter that Israel's attacks on the Palestinian community "are against international law and basic morality" and "must come to an immediate end."

According to the Permanent Mission of China, which took over the presidency of the Security Council in May, the members of the UN Security Council could not reach a consensus on holding an open session on Friday.

With Israel now also threatening an all-out invasion of Gaza, Palestinian citizens living in the Balkans and some local Muslims have taken to the streets to accuse Israel of aggression.

On Wednesday, around a hundred Palestinians demonstrated in Belgrade's Republic Square displaying or shouting slogans such as, "Liberate Palestine", "Freedom to Jerusalem" and "Stop killing children".

The clashes between the Palestinians and the Israelis have been going on for more than 48 hours, which have escalated into a very serious conflict, due to which an emergency session of the UN Security Council was convened. Rockets fly from both sides and hit targets, killing the civilians.

Turkey's political parties in parliament, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), İYİ (Good) Party and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), issued a joint declaration on May 10 condemning Israel's attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque.

Palestinians wounded after the Israeli attack at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound have filled the halls of an east Jerusalem hospital, where several had lost an eye after being hit by rubber bullets.     

Palestinian protesters threw rocks and Israeli police fired stun grenades and rubber bullets in clashes outside the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem on May 10 as Israel marked the anniversary of its capture of parts of the city in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.
