Belgrade Dance Festival to open

BELGRADE - The 14th Belgrade Dance Festival will open at Sava Centar on Friday evening with a performance by Vancouver-based Ballet BC that will feature choreographies by Canada's Crystal Pite and Israel's Sharon Eyal.

The festival will be officially opened by ballet star Giuseppe Picone, who is also art director at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples.

Tommy Emmanuel performs at Sava Centar

BELGRADE - World-famous Australian virtuoso guitarist Tommy Emmanuel performed at Belgrade's Sava Centar on Thursday as part of the Guitar Art Festival.

Emmanuel, one of the most highly esteemed guitarists of today, demonstrated his virtuosity in front of 2,000 fans, amalgamating swing, blues, soul and rock and roll.

Russian Cossacks - spectacle to remember

BELGRADE - Russian Cossacks, the prominent bearer of Cossack culture and a professional dance company, will perform at Belgrade's Sava Centar on Saturday evening.

Company Manager Leonid Milovanov told Friday's press conference that the national ensemble has been cooperating with Serbia for nine years, adding they were well-accepted each time.

Sava Centar organises direct coverage from Royal Opera House

BELGRADE - Belgrade's Sava Centar will host direct coverage of Umberto Giordano's opera Andrea Chenier from the Royal Opera House in London on Thursday.

The opera was directed by Davi McVicar, and the cast includes Jonas Kaufmann, Eva-Maria Westbroek and Zeljko Lucic, accompanied by the Royal Opera House Orchestra conducted by Antonio Pappano.

Exceptional documentaries at Magnificent 7 festival

BELGRADE - The 11th European Feature Documentary Film Festival Magnificent 7 will be held at Belgrade's Sava Centar from January 30 to February 5, the organisers have stated.

Festival Selector Tue Steen Mueller from Denmark picked excellent, modern documentaries for this year's festival, originating from the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, Denmark, Portugal, Finland and France.

Free Zone Focuses on Cinematic Delights

Among the many activities that Free Zone runs, one of the best is its touring film show, which is on the road all year showing the best documentary and feature films of the year in towns and cities all around Serbia. Free Zone works from January to December in Belgrade as well, showing films twice a month at the Rex Cultural Centre.
