Internationally-funded African Union troops in war-torn and impoverished Somalia have raped women and traded food aid for sex, Human Rights Watch said in a damning report on Sept. 8.
      
"Some of the women who were raped said that the soldiers gave them food or money afterwards in an apparent attempt to frame the assault as transactional sex," the HRW report said.

The leader of the Somali Islamist group al-Shabab, Ahmed Abdi Godane, was killed following a US attack earlier this week, the Pentagon has said, Friday.

U.S. military forces launched air strikes against the leader of Somalia's al-Qaeda-linked Shebab, the Somali government said Sept. 1, but gave no details if the attack was successful.

Turkish Airlines’ security chief was killed when a company car was attacked in Mogadishu, Turkish Ambassador Kani Torun said May 27.

Saadettin Doğan reportedly died after being hit in the head in the attack.

Turkey’s Mogadishu Embassy has contacted Somali officials to urge that they conduct an investigation to identify and capture the assailants.
