Pope Francis Prays For an End to 'Inhuman Violence' of Terrorism

Pope Francis on Sunday prayed that God will liberate the world from the "inhuman violence" of terrorism, in the wake of incidents over the past week in Burkina Faso, Barcelona and Finland that left a total of 34 people dead. The pontiff has long condemned terrorism, especially when it's religiously-inspired, insisting that it's "blasphemy" to kill in the name of God.

One Turkish citizen among 18 killed in gun attack on restaurant in Burkina Faso

A Turkish national was among at least 18 people killed in an attack in Burkina Faso by suspected jihadists, Turkey's foreign ministry said on Aug. 14.  

It said another Turk was wounded in the Aug. 13 raid on a restaurant in Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou.

The Turkish Airlines CEO has criticized the British ambassador to Ankara over the U.K.'s ban on carrying electronic devices inflight from airports in Turkey following the envoy's congratulatory tweet on a baby who was born mid-air onboard the flagship carrier.

Baby girl born mid-air on Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul

A woman successfully gave birth to a healthy baby girl during a Turkish Airlines (THY) flight to Istanbul late on April 7.   

Diaby Nafi, the passenger who gave birth on board, had not appeared to be nine months pregnant and had not told the airline or crew of her condition, according to cabin crew. 

Exporters call on envoys from 73 countries to spread Turkey's devotion to democracy

The Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM) has called for some 181 envoys and civil servants from 73 countries across the globe to talk about Turkey's devotion to democratic rule and robust economy in their countries and to boost cooperation with Turkey during a three-day meeting hosted in the Aegean province of Çanakkale on Sept. 2-4, the association said in a statement.
