Retail stores will have the option to stay open on Sunday ahead of the Easter break next week, the Confederation of Greek Commerce said on Tuesday, following reactions from some professionals against Sunday operation.

There was a marked reduction in the number of people leaving Athens on Good Friday and Easter Saturday this year compared to 2013, according to statistics provided by the traffic police.

A total of 382,859 cars passed the Athens-Corinth highway tolls on the two days, which was 3.1 percent lower than last year.

Serbs denied visit to Kosovo town on Good Friday

BELGRADE -- Serbs driven out of Đakovica in Kosovo sent a protest to the Priština authorities for not being allowed to visit their town and property on Good Friday.

Stores across the country will be operating according to a slightly different schedule on Friday and Saturday in view of Greek Orthodox Easter, which is this Sunday.

BELGRADE - Serbs who were driven out of the region of Djakovic, southwestern Kosovo, issued on Thursday a protest to the authorities in Pristina not being allowed to visit their town and properties on Good Friday.

BELGRADE - Pursuant to the Law on Public and Other Holidays in the Republic of Serbia, Easter is a religious holiday which is marked from Good Friday to the second day of Easter with non-working days from April 18-21, reads a statement by the Serbian Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Policy issued on Tuesday.

Workers at Greece’s national railway service are planning rolling 24-hour strikes during the Easter holiday, from Good Friday to the Monday after, in demand of a new collective labor agreement between staff and management.

The workers are also taking issue with the planned privatization of railway operator Trainose.
