Police detain Russian-origin ISIL militant planning to down US plane with drone at air base in Turkey

Police on Aug. 10 detained a Russian-citizen Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militant, who was reportedly planning to down a U.S. plane stationed at the İncirlik air base in the southern province of Adana with a drone before staging an attack on an Alevi association. 

Police bust ISIL suicide bomber cell in Turkey's south

Anti-terror police have busted an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) suicide bomber cell in an operation in the southern province of Adana. 

A total of 12 suspects, including two children, caught in the operation carried out in the Seyhan district on June 22 were referred to court on July 5. 

Arson attack staged on theater academy in Istanbul

A theater academy founded by thespian Müjdat Gezen was set alight early on Feb. 20 in Istanbul's Kadıköy district. 

Police and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene of the Müjdat Gezen Arts Center after the attack, which caused damage to the building. Extensive security measures were taken after the incident, while the fire was extinguished in a short period of time. 

Police seek suspects who ran away at gate of Istanbul's Atatürk Airport

Turkish police have been seeking three suspects who ran away from the entrance of Istanbul's Atatürk Airport despite police's warnings. Police have warned the suspects in a minibus to stop, but the minibus turned away and escaped while the police fired shots at the tires of the vehicle in order to stop them. 

34 detained in simultaneous ISIL operations in Turkey

A total of 34 people were detained in operations targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in four different provinces of Turkey on Nov. 10. 

Fourteen people were detained in the southern province of Adana after counter-terrorism police carried out simultaneous operations in the province's center.

HDP ?zmir head among 22 detained in anti-terror operation

At least 22 suspects, including the provincial head of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), have been detained in an anti-terror operation in ?zmir over accusations of "making terrorist propaganda."

Anti-terror police in ?zmir launched simultaneous raids on 30 addresses across the province early March 9 and detained at least 22 suspects, including HDP provincial co-chair Cavit U?ur.
