Veteran rockers the Scorpions bring their Crazy World Tour to Greece this summer. The legendary German band, which has a huge fan base in Greece, will play for the first time at the Panathenaic Stadium, the historic venue where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896.

Brazilian songwriter and singer Seu Jorge is accompanied by the Athens State Orchestra in a special tribute to David Bowie, with selected songs by the late, great artist that Jorge performed, in Portuguese, in the Wes Anderson film "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou." Internationally acclaimed violinist Leonidas Kavakos will be taking up the baton to conduct the Athens State Orchestra (KOA) in works by Bach and Bruckner at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall on Sunday, May 13. The ensemble will be joined by members of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall Youth Symphony and the KOA Academy for Young Musicians. Ticket prices range from 12 to 45 euros.

The Athens State Orchestra lends its sound to a screening of Charlie Chaplin's kooky "Gold Rush," where the Little Tramp heads north to try his luck among the throngs of prospectors at Klondike. The music for the silent film of 1925 was composed by Chaplin and Max Terr in 1942. Tickets for the family-friendly, 8.30 p.m. show at the Athens Concert Hall cost 10-35 euros.

The Athens State Orchestra will accompany graduates and students of the Greek National Opera's Dance School in a performance choreographed by Millicent Hodson and Kenneth Archer, titled "La Creation du Monde" and featuring music by Manuel de Falla and Darius Milhaud. The Athens State Orchestra will be performing at the Athens Concert Hall on Friday, October 27, under the baton of Charles Olivieri-Munroe and with Konstantinos Destounis on piano. The orchestra will perform Alexander Glazunov's "Autumn" from the ballet "The Seasons," Alfred Schnittke's Concerto for Piano and String Orchestra, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Symphony No 1 in G minor, opus 13.

The Prague Philharmonic and the Athens State Orchestra join forces at the Herod Atticus Theater on Thursday and Friday, September 21 and 22, in a concert of hit tunes by rock bands including Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Queen, AC/DC, Deep Purple and Scorpions in classical form.

The music teacher who was remanded in custody on Tuesday on charges of molesting three pre-teen students will face disciplinary action from the Athens State Orchestra (KOA) and its association of musicians.

KOA said in a statement that the "abhorrent" acts alleged to have been committed by flutist Panayiotis Drakos had shocked Greek society and the country's music community.

Dmitri Shostakovich's symphonies 4, 5, 8, 10 and 11 accompany 65 minutes of breathtaking cinema under the baton of distinguished German conductor Jens Troester.
