Romania's High Court of Cassation and Justice ruled on Tuesday that pretending to be someone else on Facebook is an offence punishable under the country's criminal law.

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader said on Sunday that he had said the attorney general was seriously mistaken when stating that justice can fulfill its role of maintaining the balance of powers and that he had not mentioned ignorance of the law, but he is not surprised, because that would not be the first such situation.

Romania's Finance Minister, Eugen Teodorovici, on Sunday said he had ordered a probe into the tax agency and other affiliated agencies, claiming they had failed to get President Klaus Iohannis to pay about 1.2 million RON [about 260,000 euros] that he obtained from renting out a house, which he then lost in a court case.
