The British government has rekindled its industrial strategy, unveiled earlier this year to prepare the economy for Brexit, with plans to boost the country's pharmaceuticals sector via fresh investments and public-private collaborations.

European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker warned again on Aug. 29 that Britain must first agree its divorce terms with the European Union before any discussion of post-Brexit ties can begin.

Much of the future border arrangements between Northern Ireland and Ireland can be solved before Brexit talks enter the next phase, Ireland's foreign minister said, urging Britain to be realistic in negotiating terms to leave the European Union.

The European Union should not "drag its feet" in negotiating Brexit, a British government source said on Aug. 27 ahead of a fresh round of UK-EU divorce talks in Brussels this week.

"Both sides must be flexible and willing to compromise when it comes to solving areas where we disagree," the source said.

British proposals to ensure an invisible Border after Brexit will not be discussed next week when the latest round of negotiations between the EU and the UK get under way in Brussels, The Irish Times.

The British government urgently needs to prevent British citizens from joining a violent organization with a record of war crimes, a report from a London-based think tank said, referring to the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). 

There should be no border posts between Ireland and the British province of Northern Ireland after Brexit, Britain said in an early attempt to resolve one of the most complex aspects of its European Union exit.

After weeks of feuding, two key figures in Britain's cabinet came together to say any post-Brexit transition would not be a "back door" to continued European Union membership.

EU Budget Commissioner Gunther Oettinger said that after the leave of Britain from the EU, an annual deficit of 10 to 12 billion euros would appear in the Union budget. He explained that the EU should move to austerity or countries to pay more in the Union budget to offset the lower revenues. Reports Mediapool.

Britain is ready to pay the EU up to EUR 40 billion in Brexit if Brussels agrees to discuss the issue of a trade agreement under the deal for a future partnership.
