Greece's unilateral decision to remove the Crete-Attica power linkup from the European Union's list of projects of common interest (PCI) and instead implement it as a national project will lead to a delay of at least six months in the project.

Greek consumers will have to shoulder the cost of an extra 356 million euros should the power interconnection between Crete and Attica proceed as a national rather than a European Union-subsidized project, warns EuroAsia.

Greece's Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) reportedly called on the Economy Ministry to impose a nationwide price cap on fuel prices through an automatic activation mechanism during a meeting on Tuesday. The ministry, however, is said to disagree with the move.
