People lived up to 40 years of age 5,000 years ago

Archaeological excavations at the Küllüoba Mound, which dates back to the first Bronze Age in the Seyitgazi district of the Central Anatolian province of Eskişehir, have unearthed more than 40 burial sites, including women and children, and research has found that people lived there an average life of 40 years 5,000 years ago.

Universities urge students to get jabbed ahead of academic year

A number of universities in Turkey are calling on and encouraging students to have their two doses of vaccines against COVID-19 before the new academic year starts.

Good response for COVID-19 plasma treatment: Red Crescent head

Patients in Turkey receiving convalescent plasma therapy have been responding positively to COVID-19 treatment, according to a top Red Crescent official. 

"We are receiving positive signals from the doctors who are taking care of seriously ill people [undergoing immune plasma therapy], Dr. Kerem Kınık, head of the Turkish Red Crescent Society told Anadolu Agency.

Turkey launches first anthropology DNA laboratory

Turkey has launched its first "ancient DNA laboratory" which will conduct scientific research on mummified remains of Anatolian civilizations dating back 10,000-15,000 years.
The molecular anthropology laboratory at Hacettepe University (HU) in Turkey's capital Ankara will examine hereditary and bacterial diseases of ancient humans and animals.

Detention warrants out for 23 Hacettepe University staff over Gülen links

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on Dec. 28 issued detention warrants for a total of 23 staff from Ankara’s Hacettepe University over their alleged links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), accused of being behind last year’s failed coup, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Ankara Jazz Festival kicks off

The 12th International Ankara Jazz Festival began on May 8 with a reception hosted by U.S. Ambassador to Ankara John Bass at his residence. 

Speaking at the opening of the festival, Bass said jazz was one of the most valuable gifts the U.S. has given to the world.
